Reiki
WHAT IS REIKI?
The Reiki modality that we practice is Usui Reiki. This is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation. It also promotes healing and brings about feelings of peace and harmony. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on an unseen “life force energy” that is said to flow through all living things. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
It is known to dissolve the energy blocks and to promote a natural balance between the mind, body and spirit. It promotes relaxation and allows the body to begin the natural healing process.
This modality is now finding its way into institutional settings from hospitals to hospices and presented as a technique which reduces stress and promotes relaxation, thereby enhancing the bodies natural ability to heal itself. It is now being requested in other care areas of the hospital to treat anxiety, chronic pain, cancer and other conditions. Reiki benefits many people seeking alternative means of healing.
It is now one of the top three complimentary in‐patient therapies in US hospitals according to the AHA (American Hospital Association) Massage therapy is first at 37%. Second is music and art therapy at 25%. A very close third is “Healing Touch Therapies” which included Reiki and Therapeutic Touch.
DR OZ USED REIKI IN HIS PRACTICE FOR OVER 10 YEARS
The highest profile advocate of complimentary therapies, especially Reiki is Mehment Oz M.D, professor and vice chairman of surgery at the Columbia University in New York City, Director of the cardiovascular institute, and Founder and Director for the Complimentary Medicine Program at the New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Oz has used Reiki and Therapeutic Touch therapists in his cardiovascular surgeries for more than 10 years. He continually talks about energy medicine on his television show, to the general public as well as health care professionals who are hearing about the benefits of these therapies from a credible western source.
” We’re beginning now to understand things that we know in our hearts are true but we could never measure. As we get better at understanding how little we know about the body, we begin to realize that the next big frontier in medicine is energy medicine.” ‐Dr. Oz.‐
Dr. Oz has conducted research on the effects of Reiki on his surgical patients with Julie Motz, RN, a Reiki‐trained therapist, who assisted Dr. Oz during 11 open heart transplants. These 11 open heart patients had no post operative depression, pain or leg weakness; no organ rejection and a positive attitude toward healing.
HOW REIKI WORKS…
1).Reiki relaxes the body by releasing endorphins in the brain.
2).When endorphins are released, muscles relax.
3).When muscles relax they contract, which increases blood circulation and carries nutrients through the body.
4).When blood circulation increases, oxygen levels increase in your body.
5). Elevated oxygen levels and increased blood circulation carries nutrients through the body.
6).Your body absorbs the nutrients resulting in enzymes building.
7).Hormones are then regulated.
8).Toxins are released.
9).Healthy cell growth is promoted.
10).Health cells promote healing which regulates your immune system and creates well‐being.
