Binomial Name: Cananga Odorata Ecuatoriana

Botanical Family: Annonaceae (Tropical trees and shrubs: Custard Apple)

Extraction Method/Origin: Steam distilled from flowers – Ecuador (Flowers are picked early in the morning to maximize oil yield. The highest quality oil is drawn from the first hour of distillation.)

Properties: Antidepressant, Antiseptic, Antispasmodic, Aphrodisiac, Sedative.

Common Primary Uses: Calming, Crying, Hair loss, High blood pressure, Hyperpnea, Mental fatigue, Relaxing, Stress, Tension.

Historical Uses: Traditionally grown in Madagascar, Indonesia, and the philippines, Amazonian ylang ylang is a new variety of oil distilled from trees grown in the lush farmland of Ecuador.

Other Possible Uses: Amazonian ylang ylang may help harmonize and balance male – female energies. I may help with lowering blood pressure, rapid breathing, balancing equilibrium, frustration, balancing heart function, impotence, infection, intestinal problems, sex drive problems, shock, and skin problems.

Characteristics: The fragrance of ylang-ylang is rich and deep with notes of rubber and custard, and bright with hints of jasmine and neroli. The essential oil of the flower is obtained through steam distillation of the flowers and separated into different grades (extra, 1, 2, or 3) according to when the distillates are obtained. The main aromatic components of ylang-ylang oil are benzyl acetate, linalool, p-cresyl methyl ether, and methyl benzoate, responsible for its characteristic odour.
